Eva Longoria Opens Up About Increased ‘Amount Of Anxiety’ Since Becoming A Mom

After giving birth, a lot of women are eager to get back into the gym, but Eva Longoria was just focused on giving back!

While chatting with reporters at the Eva Longoria Foundation Gala on Friday, the Desperate Housewives alum revealed how her mindset has shifted since welcoming her son Santiago last June with husband José Bastón.

Per Us Weekly, the 44-year-old shared:

“The one thing I did not expect when Santi was born was the amount of anxiety I was going to have about the world. Like, everything affects me now: the news, articles and climate change. Everything scares me, and my anxiety has just gone through the roof going, ‘Oh, my God, I have a better place!’ So, it’s made my philanthropic work more intense.”

She continued:

“It brought an insane intensity. I’m like, ‘We have to save the world! Oh, my God!’ I didn’t expect that. Of course, I do charity work and I do philanthropies, but now it just means so much more.”

Longoria shut down the idea that this new mindset is “debilitating,” and noting that it has been “healing” for her. She admitted (below):

“Sometimes the world’s issues are so big you feel paralyzed. But I think that’s the misconception is that you have to be rich and famous to do something. And for me, every single person can do something. Like recycling or doing a charity event like this. There’s many levels of helping and doing, and so yeah, it’s sometimes overwhelming and paralyzing at the thought, but once you start doing, it’s easy.”

In 2012, the Dora and the Lost City Of Gold star established her foundation to empower the Latino community through entrepreneurship and education resources. While the actress has been focused on her philanthropic efforts in recent years, something she wasn’t too focused on in the past was becoming a mother. Shortly after the news broke of her pregnancy, a source shared with People:

“She loves kids, but it’s not something she focused on.”

But what made Eva change her mind? The confidant elaborated:

“Meeting Pepe and becoming a stepmom made her more open to the idea… She loves his kids and now they’re really excited to be expanding the family.”

And we’re so glad she became open to the idea! Her little boy is the sweetest!!

Third Elaine Gold Launch Pad designers meet latest milestone

The fellows of the third Elaine Gold Launch Pad have reached a new milestone within the program, pitching their ‘Design Sprint’ presentations to the selection committee.

The pitch process marks the latest phase of the program since the launch pad—a joint venture of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the Accessories Council dedicated to supporting young design talent—announced its finalists in July: Rui Zhou of Rui Zhou, Dana Hurwitz and Maria Pershadsingh of Bond Hardware, Graham Baldwin of Graham Tyler, Shanel Campbell of Bed On Water, and Loren Thomas and Caragh Bennet of Tribe + Glory.

In partnership with the Accessories Council, each brand pitched for a micro grant of $5,000, $10,000, and $15,000 to build their brand and work toward their final launch pad presentation, scheduled for next March.

The CFDA announced that a total of up to $75,000 was allotted for this Design Sprint pulled from the combined total funds of up to $175,000. After deliberating, the committee decided to give each brand $15,000.

In addition, CFDA President and CEO Steven Kolb announced that, “through funding and as a special gift through Valentino, each Elaine Gold Launch Pad Fellow will receive an additional $20,000 to aid with local production.”

According to the CFDA, Rui Zhou plans to use the funds to focus on her production through purchasing machines and developing her fabric, as well as allotting funds to her show budget for New York Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2020.

Likewise, Dana Hurwitz and Maria Pershadsingh plan to use the funds to prioritize website and e-commerce improvements for Bond Hardware, while Graham Baldwin plans to focus on textile and product development for Graham Tyler.

Shanel Campbell will use the funds for materials, production and marketing at her label, Bed On Water, and designer duo Tribe + Glory plans to use the money to optimize their online presence and launch a new website by next March.

The next step for the launch pad fellows is the ‘360 Blueprint Presentations,’ scheduled in March.

This past February, the second Elaine Gold Launch Pad grand prize of $55,000 was awarded to designers Angela Luna and Loulwa Al Saad of Adiff and Morganne Leigh of Tyche + Iset, as the two bands tied for first place.

How to Style a Slip Skirt

If you regularly turn to Instagram for outfit inspiration, you’ve likely seen slip skirts popping up more often in the past few months. Whether you credit that leopard midi skirt as being the start of it all (see its very own Instagram if you don’t know what we’re talking about), or you think the piece evolved from the classic layering garment it gets its name from, one thing is undeniable: the trend is real, and it’s everywhere.

Once a new piece or look starts trending, we’re not surprised when we see it on the shelves of all our favorite fashion retailers. Each brand churns out a different iteration of the style — sometimes in a vibrant pattern or with a unique new embellishment — but we’re particularly fond of this option from Banana Republic. Not only is it affordable and high quality, but it comes in two neutral tones for maximum versatility. In other words, you’ll want to add this to your cart quick because we can already predict it’ll sell out fast.

Need a few suggestions on how to style it? We’ve got you. Keep scrolling to see how Instagram’s most stylish set will be wearing slip skirts this Winter and beyond.

Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber completely changed her look with one little haircut. The model now has an A-line pixie cut after perviously sporting a bob.

Gerber’s hair has gotten progressively shorter over the last couple months. She shared her new look today on her Instagram Story while at an event for Emily Ratajkowski’s clothing line Inamorata.

Gerber has primarily made headlines for her burgeoning romance with Pete Davidson these past couple weeks. A source talked to E! in mid-November about the status of their relationship then.

“Kaia and Pete are definitely in a romantic relationship,” the source started. “They have been friends for a while now and run in the same friend circle, but became romantic recently. They started hanging out alone more often after meeting up in NYC in October. Kaia expressed she loved Pete’s personality. She thinks he is charming and is very intrigued.”

“They have been texting a lot this past month, and are definitely seeing where it goes,” the source added. “Kaia and Pete were spending time in Malibu together recently, and then flew to NYC because of Pete’s work commitment where Kaia supported him.”

A second source said that then, Gerber wasn’t ready to tell people that Davidson was her boyfriend. “She isn’t admitting to anything romantic and wants to keep everything under wraps,” that source clarified. “Even if she’s seen out with him, she’s not ready to make anything official. She says they are friends and love being together.” Then they were photographed making out in Miami, and the secret romance stopped being remotely secret.
