Ten women have been selected and will receive a $10,000 grant for their charity at an Awards Gala on March 8 (International Women’s Day). One of the 10 Women of Worth Honourees will also be selected as the National Honouree and will be awarded an additional $10,000 grant for her charity at the Awards Gala.

The nominees were judged on four distinct criteria: addressing a crucial need in the community; the impact their inspiring contributions have made; their innovation on developing solutions; and their passion to evoke change and inspire future generations.

“These exceptional women selflessly and tirelessly strive for and champion change; lifting up their communities and bringing people together,” said Milan Mladjenovic, general manager, L’Oréal Paris Canada, in a news statement.

“We are humbled and inspired by their contributions to dream, learn, and ultimately do more, for the betterment of our world.”

The Canadian Women of Worth Honourees are Kehkashan Basu for the Green Hope Foundation; Sara Champagne for the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation; Rabiah Dhaliwal for the One Blood for Life Foundation; Tanya Hayles for Black Moms Connection; Donna Hreys for Knitted Knockers Alberta; Gina Jones-Wilson for the Upper Hammonds Plains Community Development Association; Glori Meldrum for Little Warriors; Karen Sherbut for the Safe Haven Foundation of Canada; Dr. Laura Whyte for Covered By Hope House; and Bev Woods for Gift from the Heart.

From now until March 4, Canadians can visit womenofworth.ca to vote to elect the 2020 National Honouree – who will be awarded an additional $10,000 grant towards her non-profit charity.

Headquartered in Montreal, L’Oréal Paris is a division of L’Oréal Canada.

  • Former Bachelor contestant Michelle Money revealed her daughter was involved in a terrible skateboarding accident.
  • The 15 year old is now on life support and in a medically-induced coma.
  • Michelle begged her followers to remember to wear helmets.

Former Bachelor contestant and friend of Clare Crawley Michelle Money had a terrible update to share with her followers early this morning.

In a heartbreaking Instagram post, Michelle, revealed that her 15-year-old daughter, Brielle, was involved in a tragic skateboarding accident and was later found by their neighbors who were on a walk. Brielle is now in a medically-induced coma and connected to several machines in the intensive care unit.

Michelle wrote, “Brielle was in terrible skateboarding accident and is in the ICU on life support. She suffered a serious brain trauma and a fractured skull. She is in a medically induced coma to relieve pressure in her brain.”

Michelle then asked her followers to pray for her and Brielle during this difficult time. She added:

“I believe in the power of communication with whatever God you believe in. The energy of your conscious focus to send healing to my daughter is real. In whatever form
you commune with your Higher Power, please as a desperate mother, I am begging you to do so. She needs support and healing right now. And if you could send one up for me as well, I would appreciate it. This is the worst experience of my life.”

Before posting, the businesswoman begged parents to force their kids to wear helmets “even when they push back,” suggesting Brielle wasn’t wearing hers at the time of the accident.

Hopefully the doctors are able to help Brielle so she can begin her recovery soon. “Brielle has been through so much already this year,” Michelle shared. “She has proven how strong she is. I know she will pull through.”

Macy’s to furlough most of 130,000 employees as stores stay shut

Macy’s Inc said on Monday it would furlough most of its 130,000-strong workforce starting this week as all stores of the department chain operator have been temporarily shut due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Like many retailers, Macy’s has already said it would suspend quarterly dividend and withdrew its 2020 sales and profit forecasts in response to the uncertainty and financial hit from the store closures.

The company said on Monday the store closures had severely dented a majority of its sales, despite the online business staying up and running.

“We’ve already taken measures to maintain financial flexibility … While these actions have helped, it is not enough,” the company said in a statement.

Macy’s earlier this month said it would borrow $1.5 billion from a revolving credit facility to brace for the impact from the pandemic, which has killed 34,000 people across the globe.

The company said it would maintain the “absolute minimum” workforce needed to maintain basic operations across its Macy’s, Bloomingdales and Bluemercury brands.

At least through May, furloughed employees enrolled in health benefits will continue to receive coverage, with the company covering the premium amount.

The retailer added there would be fewer furloughs in its digital business, which is still operational, supporting distribution centers and call centers.

Macy’s said it planned to bring back employees on a staggered basis once business resumes.

Michelle Money is asking for support as her daughter is hospitalized after a tragic accident.

The former Bachelor contestant shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram Monday morning, posting a photograph of 15-year-old Brielle hooked up to various machines in a hospital bed and revealing that her daughter “was in terrible skateboarding accident and is in the ICU on life support.”

“She suffered a serious brain trauma and a fractured skull. She is in a medically induced coma to relieve pressure in her brain,” wrote Money, adding that Brielle “is in amazing hands up at Primary Children’s Hospital.”

“Please — I am asking for prayers. I believe in the power of communication with whatever God you believe in,” she continued. “The energy of your conscious focus to send healing to my daughter is real. In whatever form you commune with your Higher Power, please as a desperate mother, I am begging you to do so.”

“She needs support and healing right now,” added Money, 39. “And if you could send one up for me as well, I would appreciate it. This is the worst experience of my life.”

Money also used her post to implore parents to “ALWAYS MAKE [your kids] WEAR THE HELMET. ALWAYS. EVEN WHEN THEY PUSH BACK.”

“Thank you to the neighbors who happened to be on a walk and found her and called 911. You will never understand. I would not have found her in time,” the former reality star wrote. “My heart is forever grateful. Thank you to all of you who have sent prayers and messages and love.”

“Brielle has been through so much already this year. She has proven how strong she is. I know she will pull through. #PrayForBrie,” Money concluded her post.

Money — who competed for Brad Womack‘s heart on season 15 of The Bachelor and went on to win the first season of Bachelor in Paradise — previously opened up to PEOPLE about both her daughter and the baby boy she placed for adoption after finding out she was pregnant at 15.

“Brielle has always told me that she wishes she had a big brother and in the back of my head I’ve always been like, ‘Gosh, that would be pretty magical if that ended up happening for her,’ ” she said during the August 2016 chat.

“When I told her, she was just really excited and was crying and emotional and couldn’t believe that she really does have a big brother,” Money added. “But I also had to be so careful not to give her false hopes. I had to remind her that he’s out there somewhere, but we might not ever meet him.”

“She needed to be okay with that — more than anything, I just want to make sure that I don’t get her hopes up for something that might not ever happen,” she said.
