Net-A-Porter expands Net Sustain with launch of beauty brands

More than 60 sustainable brands have been added to Net-A-Porter’s environmentally-friendly Net Sustain edit, including, for the first time, a number of beauty brands.

Net Sustain is the luxury retailer’s answer to the growing consumer demand for responsibly sourced, ethically made products. Launched last year, the online edit will now feature up to 100 brands.

The expanded line-up includes, for the first time, 27 beauty brands from the most internationally renowned like Tata Harper, Aesop, Dr Barbara Strum and Vintner’s Daughter to niche and up-and-coming names like Cosmydor, One Ocean Beauty, Sana Jardin and Seed to Skin.

The fashion edit continues to grow with 45 additional clothing brands, giving online shoppers more options when looking for chic sustainable ready-to-wear. To mark the launch of the next phase, 17 exclusive capsule collections will launch inspired by the cherished ‘wear forever’ pieces that form the basis of a sharp wardrobe.

Headlining the initiative are established brands Theory, Gabriela Hearst and By Malene Birger alongside emerging brands Bite Studios, Aaizel and Envelope 1976.

Consumers are assured that each product in the Net Sustain edit meets at least one of  seven attributes defined by Net-A-Porter. These take into account human, animal and environmental welfare and align with internationally recognised best practices in the fashion and beauty industries.

“Since the launch of Net Sustain in June 2019, we have been committed to expanding in this area and enabling our customer to make informed choices. We are especially excited to launch beauty into the platform for the first time, following extensive onboarding and vetting processes,” said Elizabeth von der Goltz, global buying director.

Net-A-Porter admitted that bringing together a range of beauty products under a sustainability banner was a challenge as “terminology with sustainable beauty can mean different things to different people”.

“Net Sustain celebrates the brands that place sustainability at the heart of their business mission, and our attribute taxonomy recognizes that every brand will take a slightly different approach depending on the nature of their supply chain and their end product,” Elizabeth von der Goltz continued.

Products and brands in Net Sustain are featured in a dedicated area on site, and badged according to each pillar so that items can be easily identified. A campaign shot in London and “approached with a consideration for environmental impact” celebrates the platform’s latest arrivals.

Chapter 35: Everything You Need to Know About Skin Care Sticks – THE YESSTYLIST – Asian Fashion Blog

Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes

Beauty Book

The majority of beauty products normally come in liquid, cream or powder form but there’s a new category on the block: beauty sticks. Makeup products, including blushers, highlighters, foundation or contour products, now come in stick form. What’s better is that skin care sticks are also available!

Thanks to skin care sticks, you no longer have to worry about messy applications. Skin care sticks are leak-proof and ideal for those looking to streamline their skin care routines, especially for those late mornings.

Want to give skin care sticks a go? Check out our list of skin care products, including facial cleansers, scrubs, masks, serums and sunscreens, that come in stick form and deserve a space on your #skincareshelfie.

Skin care sticks are super easy to use. Depending on what type of skin care stick you use, start with a few swipes across your face and work your way up if you need to. Less is always more!

If you’re having trouble gliding the stick across your face, simply warm it up with your fingers before use. Be gentle and don’t rub the stick too hard on your skin or it may cause irritation.

Cleansing Sticks

Start your routine with NEOGEN’s Real Fresh Cleansing Stick Green Tea. It’s formulated with green tea extracts to gently exfoliate the skin, and 13 natural oils including coconut, camellia, olive and green tea seed oils to help remove all traces of makeup. Apply the cleansing stick on damp skin and gently massage it all over your skin until it lathers and voila – you’re left with skin that’s clean and feels fresh!

Scrub Sticks

Need to get rid of blackheads or whiteheads? You can count on TOSOWOONG’s SOS Tightening Pore Clinic Charcoal Blackhead Stick to do the job. This blackhead stick offers a deep exfoliation thanks to its formula containing red bean powder and aloe vera, grape, charcoal and apple extracts to help cleanse impurities. This blackhead stick is also perfect for reaching those hard-to-reach areas like around the nose.

Mask Sticks

What do you do when it’s Sunday and your skin needs its weekly mask treatment, but you’re just too lazy to apply it? Reach for a mask stick!

A mask stick is incredibly easy to use, and you can choose to swipe it only on areas you want to target. A great deep cleansing mask is the Super Volcanic Stick Mask 2X from innisfree. This mask is formulated with Jeju Volcanic Cluster Sphere that reduces excess sebum, making it the perfect mask for oily or acne-prone skin types.

Eye Sticks

I take my eye care very seriously but there are always those days when I’m tempted to skip a step in my skin care routine. For lazy days, you can use an eye stick for a fuss-free application. JJ YOUNG’s Aloe Vera Super Moist Eye Stick hydrates your eye areas with just one glide and is formulated with aloe vera leaf extract to soothe the skin.

Don’t worry about it pulling on your delicate eye areas. One of our editors has tried the Aloe Vera Super Moist Eye Stick and she can attest to its smooth application!

Serum Sticks

Who would’ve thought serums could come in stick form? If your skin craves more hydration, introduce it to NEOGEN’s Dermalogy White Truffle Laycure Oil Stick. Not only does this oil stick nourish your skin, it also protects it from harsh environments that leave your skin feeling dry or even damaged. It’s best to apply this oil stick before your moisturizer to give your skin a boost of moisture.

Sun Sticks

As the final step of your skin care routine, always protect your skin with sunscreen. There are plenty of sun sticks to choose from and one that’s great for soothing sensitive skin is Holika Holika’s Less on Skin Redness Calming Cica Sun Stick. It’s enriched with Centella asiatica extract and magnesium, which help get rid of redness.

If you have oily skin and don’t want to look slick all day, go for a lightweight sun stick like LANEIGE’s Air Light Sun Stick SPF50+ PA++++. Featuring a non-greasy formula, this sun stick feels so light and works well under makeup.

To strengthen a damaged skin barrier, you can’t go wrong with Abib’s Quick Sunstick Protection Bar. Thanks to skin fortifying ingredients including Acacia peptide and ceramides, your skin is guaranteed to be protected from environmental stressors and damaging UV rays.

Remember, skin care sticks come into direct contact with your skin so it’s important to keep them clean after every use to prevent bacteria from building up. After using, quickly clean your skin care stick by wiping it with a tissue. It’s as simple as that!

Rihanna & A$AP Rocky Are Just ‘Close Friends’ With Nothing ‘Romantic’ Between Them!

Just when we were starting to think of a good ship name for Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, a new source has come forward to throw a wrench in our plans!

The 31-year-old songstress had us all guessing about her relationship status with the A$AP Mob artist earlier this week when they were spotted getting cozy together merely hours after the news broke that she and Hassan Jameel had broken up.

We shamelessly speculated this could be a rebound fling or perhaps an OTP we overlooked from the start — but apparently, the two entertainers are nothing more than good old pals if the latest from Us Weekly is to be believed!

The source shared with the outlet:

“A$AP has always thought Rihanna was cool and gorgeous. But they have way more of a best friend [or] cousin relationship.”

Well, we certainly agree on that first part about the Bajan stunner. But really? Just a friendly vibe even after years of on-and-off dating rumors and actually locking lips at one point back in 2013?

“They are very close friends, but nothing ever seems romantic between the two of them.”

As we mentioned earlier, this report follows a conspicuously friendly sighting between the two backstage at the Yams Day Benefit Concert in New York City on January 17. In photographs captured of them at the event, Rihanna and A$AP weren’t exactly holding hands and gazing into each other’s eyes — but they did seem very close and happy in each other’s company.

We guess that’s what the friend zone looks like nowadays, huh. LOLz. Hey, at least A$AP is an attractive shoulder to lean on in any capacity, right?

Since the Diamonds singer is reportedly still single after her split from Hassan, maybe she’ll stay that way for a bit to regroup after her almost three-year relationship with the Saudi businessman couldn’t go the distance.

Depending on how you look at, Rihanna might’ve hinted at all of this in a June 2019 profile with Interview magazine where she declined to reveal whether or not she’d marry Jameel.

When asked if wedding bells were in the cards for her, the Love On The Brain singer said:

“Only God knows that, girl. We plan and God laughs, right?”

The Grammy winner did also mention later in the interview that she wants to be a mother “more than anything in life,” though. We’re inclined to believe that baby-making, along with those seemingly non-existent wedding plans, will be put on hold for the foreseeable future.

Continue living your best single life in the meantime, gurl!

Jim Lehrer, Longtime PBS Anchor, Dies at 85

Click here to read the full article.

Jim Lehrer, the legendary journalist who helped set a high bar for TV journalism via his long-running program on PBS, died on Thursday at his home, according to the network. He was 85 years old.

Lehrer was a correspondent for the Dallas Morning News who moved to TV reporting for the local public TV station, KERA. He soon found himself working as a national correspondent for the National Public Affairs Center for Television, then the biggest producer of public-affairs programming for PBS stations. When the Watergate hearings captured national attention in 1973, Lehrer and another journalist he was teamed with, Robert MacNeil, began spending hours and hours on camera, telling American viewers the ins and outs of the extraordinary situation, in which the Nixon administration sought to cover up its involvement in a break-in at Democratic National Committee. The duo held forth over the course of 250 hours, in both daytime and night. There was no such thing at the time as wall-to-wall coverage on any sort of cable-news network.

More from Variety

Lehrer and MacNeil would go on to found in October of 1975 “The Robert MacNeil Report,” a half-hour report on a single topic. Within months, it was retitled “The MacNeil/Lehrer Report.” In 1983, the show expanded to 60 minutes and became known as “The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour.” Lehrer would become the sole name anchor twelve years later, after his partner retired, and the program was called “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.” Since that time, the program has become an institution, and is now anchored by Judy Woodruff.

“I’m heartbroken at the loss of someone who was central to my professional life, a mentor to me and someone whose friendship I’ve cherished for decades,” said  Woodruff., anchor and managing editor of  what is now known as “PBS NewsHour.”  “I’ve looked up to him as the standard for fair, probing and thoughtful journalism and I know countless others who feel the same way.”

Lehrer moderated 12 president debates — including all of the debates in 1996 and 2000, more than any other journalist in U.S. history. He is survived by his wife Kate; daughters Jamie, Lucy, and Amanda; and six grandchildren.

More to come.
