Prince William and Kate Middleton Made a Surprise Visit to an Orphanage After Plane Incident

A happy accident!

Prince William and Kate Middleton made a surprise visit to an orphanage in Pakistan on the last day of their tour. And it was a sweet and unexpected appearance, considering the royal couple technically wrapped their tour the day before, on Thursday, Oct. 17. However, the Royal Air Force plane they were on was forced to abort a landing in Islamabad, Pakistan twice after they got caught in the middle of a severe thunderstorm.

The airplane tried stopping in two areas in the city, before landing in Lahore. So the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s visit to the SOS Children’s Village orphanage on Friday morning was a great surprise, and many of the children were excited to see the famous couple. (This was the second time they paid a visit!)

«That nurturing of this place really comes through. It’s like an arm wrapped around you,» Prince William stated during the visit. Additionally, he also talked about mental health and praised the staff at the orphanage.

«It’s important that people talk about it and it’s not too taboo,» he said about mental health awareness. «In the west, we don’t really focus on the emotional support.»

The Duke of Cambridge added, «What you’re all doing is amazing and you’ve got two ambassadors in us.»

Kate was also happy about returning to the SOS Children’s Village. She said she was «so glad we came back to get the full picture.» Her husband chimed in, «I could feel that there was more to talk about.»

Making their visit even more memorable, the royal couple joined the children for a game of cricket. During the game, Prince William accidentally hit his wife’s neck with the ball. «Ha! She’s my wife, so I can just about get away with it,» he quipped. Luckily, Kate was a good sport and also laughed it off.

Moreover, the pair also joined the kids on the floor for a painting session. They even received friendship bracelets made by the little ones, a pink one for the Duchess of Cambridge and a blue one for Prince William. «Thank you so much for the bracelet,» he said. «I won’t take it off.»

He added, «My children will wonder why I’m wearing it.»

Sometimes, unplanned visits prove to be the best ones!

Who Is Scott Borchetta? | POPSUGAR Celebrity

It’s pretty clear that Taylor Swift and talent executive Scooter Braun have got bad blood. What may not be as clear to you is how Scooter’s business partner Scott Borchetta fits into all this drama. As Taylor’s feud with Big Machine’s Scooter and Scott over the rights to her music and her upcoming performance at the AMAs rages on, it’s now rumored that Scooter and Scott may be butting heads as well. According to E! News, Scooter isn’t pleased with the way Scott is handling the music battle. «Scooter is frustrated because his name is being dragged in the mud,» a source shared. «He doesn’t run Big Machine or have operational control of company. He hasn’t taken part in these negotiations.»

So who exactly is the man who runs Big Machine Records? Before founding Taylor’s former label, 57-year-old Scott was an executive at the Nashville divisions of DreamWorks Records, MCA Records, and Universal Music Nashville, as well as MTM Records. His father, Mike Borchetta, also worked in record promotions for several LA record labels — including Capitol Records, RCA Records, and Mercury Records — before moving to Nashville to found an independent record promotion company, Mike Borchetta Promotions. After playing in several rock bands (and professionally racing cars), Scott followed in his father’s footsteps.

Big Machine Records was founded all the way back in September 2005 by Scott and country singer Toby Keith in a joint venture. Even before he left DreamWorks, Borchetta approached a 14-year-old Taylor (whom he met in 2004), telling her he wanted to recruit her to the new label’s roster after it was established. After the label was formed, Scott released Taylor’s first single, «Tim McGraw,» and her self-titled debut album. Taylor went on to release five more albums with the label until her contract expired in November 2018 and she signed with Republic Records. After announcing the switch, Taylor gave Scott a shout-out on social media. «I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Scott Borchetta for believing in me as a 14-year-old and for guiding me through over a decade of work that I will always be proud of,» she wrote on Instagram.

Big Machine may have been sold to Scooter for $300 million in June 2019, but Scott remains the CEO — and Big Machine remains the owner of the music rights to Taylor’s first six albums. Taylor’s relationship with Scott soured soon after Scooter bought the label. In a Tumblr post, Taylor defended her decision to leave Big Machine so she could own her future music rights, even though she knew leaving would mean potentially losing the rights to her previous albums. «I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future,» she explained. «I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past.» Scott may have helped make Taylor’s career, but as Scott continually defends Big Machine against Taylor, it’s unlikely we’ll see these two making amends anytime soon.

Yasss! Nipsey Hussle Receives 3 Grammy Nominations!

Despite his untimely and tragic passing in March of this year, rapper Nipsey Hussle’s last album was just recognized for the upcoming 62nd annual Grammy Awards. Nipsey scored three nominations for his work.

As many of the music industry’s brightest stars were up early to find out if they received any Grammy Award nominations, fans of the late Nipsey Hussle were overjoyed to learn that the Recording Academy nominated him three times in various rap categories. As reported by @HollywoodReporter, Nip is also one up against other hip hop artists with multiple nods, including breakout star Lil Nas X who landed six of his own.

Nipsey is nominated for Best Rap Performance (“Racks in the Middle,” featuring Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy), Best Rap/Sung Performance (“Higher,” a collaboration with DJ Khaled and John Legend) and also Best Rap Song (“Racks in the Middle.”) In addition to Lil Nas X, Nipsey is also competing with notable artists, such as Offset and J. Cole.

The multiple nominations aren’t the only way that the Grammys are showing love to Nipsey, as reportedly the suit he wore to this year’s Grammy Awards just weeks before he passed is now on display at the Grammy Museum. The museum has a legendary collection of items from memories of previous awards shows.

The Grammy nominees were selected from over 20,000 submissions in 84 categories, and the winners will be determined by the voting of the Recording Academy members. The 62nd Grammy Awards will air live on CBS on January 26th from Los Angeles. The event will once again be hosted by Alicia Keys.

Prince Andrew to Step Back From Royal Duties After BBC Interview

Prince Andrew, Duke of York, will step back from his public Royal duties with permission from his mother Queen Elizabeth II, amid ongoing backlash over his train wreck of a TV interview about his sex scandal.

On BBC Newsnight on Saturday, Andrew, the 59-year-old uncle of Prince William and Prince Harry, denied allegations that he had sex with a 17-year-old girl obtained for him by his friend and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead of an apparent suicide in a U.S. prison in August as he awaited trial on a sex trafficking charge. Following the controversial interview, several companies and charities distanced themselves from Andrew, causing further embarrassment to the Royal Family.

«It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family’s work and the valuable work going on in the many organisations and charities that I am proud to support,» Andrew said in a statement on Wednesday. «Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission.»

«I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein,» he continued. «His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathise with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure. I can only hope that, in time, they will be able to rebuild their lives. Of course, I am willing to help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations, if required.»

Andrew gave his interview amid months of renewed scandal over his past ties to Epstein. Many viewers slammed the duke over his BBC Newsnight sitdown, noting his often incoherent denials and strange recollections, as well as an apparent lack of compassion for Epstein’s victims.

One of Epstein’s accusers, Virginia Giuffre, formerly Virginia Roberts, has said she was forced to have sex with Andrew three times between 1999 and 2002, including in London and on a private Caribbean island owned by Epstein. She was 17 years old and legally underage at the time. In his BBC interview, Andrew denied having sex with a teenage girl, adding, «I have no recollection of ever meeting this lady, none whatsoever.»

He also questioned Virginia’s account of meeting him sweating and dancing at a London nightclub, saying, «I didn’t sweat at the time because I had suffered what I would describe as an overdose of adrenaline in the Falklands War, when I was shot at…it was almost impossible for me to sweat.» Days after the interview, British tabloids posted pics of Andrew sweating and interacting with women at parties.

In the interview, after it was noted that he stayed at the house of a «convicted sex offender,» Andrew signed and said, «It was a convenient place to stay. I’ve gone through this in my mind so many times. At the end of the day, with the benefit of all the hindsight that one can have, it was definitely the wrong thing to do. But at the time, I felt it was the honorable and right thing to do. And I admit fully that my judgment was probably colored by my tendency to be too honorable. But that is just the way it is.»
