Report: Trump Worries His Impeachment Lawyer Can’t Play One on TV

Published

on

With a vote on impeachment looming in the House, Donald Trump is looking ahead to a potential Senate trial. In a report by The New York Times, a source “involved in the planning” of the President’s defense said that top White House counsel Pat A. Cipollone may not actually get the nod to represent the Commander in Chief. Trump has been quizzing a circle of trusted associates, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, for names of other lawyers. Trump’s unease with Cipollone stems, according to the Times, from his lack of experience on television.

Cipollone assumed his role as White House counsel on December 10, 2018 after several months as an informal advisor. The 53-year-old was previously working as a litigation attorney in Washington D.C., though had previous experience in President George H.W. Bush’s Department of Justice under under Attorney General William Barr. He is also known for being one of the founders of the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast.

Those credentials may not be enough for Mr. Trump, star of 14 seasons of The Apprentice.

Trump’s concerns were reported by Sheryl Gay Stolberg, who notes that the President wishes for a prolonged process that would allow for a “theatrical defense.” Though McConnell is resistant to the idea and suggests a “shorter, more dignified event,” he has been meeting privately with White House officials as they devise their strategy.

Democratic leader Charles Schumer released a statement that “every single senator will take an oath to render ‘impartial justice,’” a likely reference to McConnell’s proximity to the defense. Val B. Demings, Democratic Representative from Florida, called for McConnell to recuse himself.

Halsey Gushes Over Evan Peters on His Birthday With Special Tribute

Published

Evan Peters is feeling the love.

The American Horror Story alum is celebrating his 33rd birthday with a bang… or at least, with his leading lady by his side. On Monday, Halsey took to Instagram to shower her beau with love on his special day.

And while the two have been pretty private about their romance on social media, the songstress made an exception for the celebratory occasion.

“happy birthday darling,” she captioned her post, alongside a black-and-white an image taken with a photo-booth. “I can’t imagine a world without you in it.”

In the sweet snapshot Halsey shared, the pair looked smitten over each other, as they kissed and smiled from ear-to-ear.

Despite the fact that the two have only been dating for nearly three months, it looks like their romance is stronger than ever. Just last week, a source told E! News that the dynamic duo is “inseparable” and have taken their relationship to the next level.

“They’ve become inseparable and Evan is staying with Halsey at her house,” an insider shared. “He still has an apartment in the valley, but she has a gorgeous new house that she bought last year. It makes more sense for them to be at her place, so they have been spending all of their time there.”

“They seem very happy together,” the source added. “They don’t want to be apart.”

It’s unclear what the two have planned for Evan’s birthday. However, from the looks of Halsey’s sweet Instagram tribute, it seems like it’s already a day to remember.

Watch E! News weekday mornings at 7 a.m.! And don’t miss our 2020 Grammys: E!’s Inside Guide special Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 11 p.m. for a Grammy Awards preview!

Jerry O’Connell Role-Plays As ‘Juicy Joe’ Giudice With Rebecca Romijn – Hollywood Life

Published

By

Jerry O’Connell launched into a spot-on Joe Giudice impersonation after a caller on ‘WWHL’ asked, ‘Have you ever role-played with Rebecca [Romijn]’ in the bedroom as any Bravo couple, and if so, who was it?’

Jerry O’Connell, 45, takes the “Juicy” in “Juicy Joe” very seriously. The Carter star apparently gets his groove on with wife Rebecca Romijn, 47, by assuming the role of Teresa Giudice’s husband, Joe Giudice! Well, this was majorly implied after he answered a caller on the Jan. 20 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen! The confession happened after a fan called in to boldly ask, “The world as well as Chrissy Teigen and John Legend all want to know, have you ever role-played with Rebecca in the bedroom as any Bravo couple, and if so, who was it?”

Jerry refused to name-drop, but the Italian accent was undeniable. “I don’t want to name any names, I don’t want to put anyone on blast, but let’s just say I like to play a husband who’s maybe been deported,” Jerry responded, no longer talking like Jerry. Losing himself in the role-playing, Jerry raised his voice and nearly shouted, “And he just want a quick visit, you know what I’m talking about, J? Got a couple minutes before ICE is in here, come on let’s do this!”

The crowd went absolutely wild. Of course, Jerry was not-so-subtly referring to Joe’s legal drama that has been ongoing since a judge ordered him to be deported to Italy, where he was born, in Oct. 2018. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star was still serving prison time for fraud charges at the time, and so when he was released in March of 2019, he was immediately transferred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Tired of sitting in a facility, he chose to carry out the deportation case in Italy in Oct. 2019, and he was finally able to reunite with Teresa and their four daughters Gia, 19, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 13 and Audriana, 10, the next month.

While Joe’s bedroom confession should be taken with a grain of salt, he truly is a devout Bravo fan — so much so, he was nominated for the Biggest Bravoholic award alongside Chrissy, Michael Rapaport and Wendi McLendon-Covey in 2016! He even hosted a short-lived talk show host for Bravo, Play by Play, in 2018.

Attorney For Aaron Hernandez Says Netflix Doc Got It Wrong-His Client Did Not Take His Life Over His Sexuality

Published

A lot of people watched Netflix’s Aaron Hernandez documentary over the weekend and given all its buzz, it seems like the late football player’s attorney was prompted to say something about what he felt was an inaccurate portrayal of Hernandez’s life.

The documentary, “Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez” implied that Hernandez may have comitted suicide because of his struggle with his sexuality but his attorney, Jose Baez, says this is not the case.

Baez says Hernandez took his own life largely because he was suffering from CTE, a progressive brain disease Hernandez had developed since his youth, TMZ reports. Baez strongly believes that Hernandez’s sexual orientation played no part in his fate.

But before y’all think Baez is just piping up because of the documentary, keep in mind the attorney has been adamant about getting Hernandez’s brain studied at Boston University and even accused the Worcester Medical Examiner of holding onto it illegally.

All in all, Baez wasn’t feeling Hernandez’s alleged homosexuality being exploited in the documentary.

The documentary featured Hernandez’s old high school classmate, Dennis SanSoucie, who claimed they used to hook up as teens.

Baez reportedly felt double-crossed by producers and blasted the documentary, referring to it as a “money making scheme.”

Roommates, what are your thoughts on this? Let us know.
